Filer Police Department

The Filer Police Department serves and protects the citizens of Filer. Filer is located in south central Idaho and has a population just under 3,000. The Filer Police Department has a staff of Six full time officers. Over the years our officers have kept the City of Filer with one of the lowest crime rates in the State of Idaho. We are proud of the accomplishment of making residents and visitors well protected.

Before a full time agency was developed, a town marshal patrolled the streets. As well as maintaining peace in the city, the town marshal was also in charge of maintenance for the city. In the 1970’s the police department developed in to a full time agency. Over the years, the agency has expanded by the introduction of six full time positions and two volunteer reserve positions. The police department is in charge of handling all crime in the city from major crimes to city code violations.
